Meet the Health Services Team
The health team at Sylvan Union School District consists of Credentialed School Nurses, Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN ) and Health Clerks.
RNs and LVNs make up our treatment nurse group. They provide direct medical services for students with specific health needs and provide first aid at various schools. They also assist the Credentialed School Nurse as needed.
Health Clerks are assigned to each middle school and are available during school hours for student health needs. They provide first aid, administer medications, maintain health records, and assist the Credentialed School Nurses as needed. All Credentialed School Nurses have a registered nurse license and either a bachelors or masters degree in Nursing as well as Public Health Nurse certifications.
Many of our Credentialed School Nurses have backgrounds in ICU, pediatrics, diabetic care, and medical/surgical nursing. The Credentialed School Nurses' role is to support student success through health assessments, interventions, referrals, and follow-up for children within the school setting as well as train school staff on first aid and student health needs.
The Sylvan health team addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of students and supports their achievement in the learning process.
