Superintendent's Message for the 2024-2025 school year:
We welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year. Each school year is filled with anticipation for new learning and making new connections. We are looking forward to embarking on a powerful journey of growth and achievement, guided by our priority goals:
- Ensuring supportive, welcoming and engaging campuses for students, parents, staff and the community
- High levels of learning for ALL students
- Promoting and creating learning environments and providing enrichment opportunities that will allow students to meet the demands of high school, college and career readiness
To meet our priority goals the Sylvan Union School District is an active and committed Professional Learning Community (PLC). We are dedicated to fostering a culture centered on learning and collaboration, ensuring growth for both students and staff.
To our parents, supporters and families, we thank you for partnering with us. We know that a strong partnership between home and school including your involvement, support, and communication are critical for your child's academic achievement and overall well-being. We invite you to join in our school activities as well as parent-teacher conferences and we hope you will volunteer for school and district events and join our parent-teacher associations. We will keep you informed about important school news and your child's progress. We truly appreciate your insights and feedback which help us improve our programs and offerings.
We celebrate our students, their resiliency and their focus on learning. Each student has a unique set of talents and aspirations, and our purpose and promise is to provide learning opportunities so that all students grow, learn, and achieve their goals and dreams. Our students work hard not only on their academics but also through sports, music, the fine arts, and leadership, building relationships with staff and their peers and creating lasting connections in our school community and neighborhoods.These lasting connections are a testament to the supportive and inclusive environment our staff and students expect and create together. We genuinely care for our students and create an inclusive and safe learning community where all are welcomed and treated with kindness and dignity.
We share our gratitude for our wonderful and amazing staff and educators. Our teachers, support staff, administrators and volunteers are the heart of our district, working tirelessly to ensure that our students receive the highest levels of quality education and support. Our professional and highly-qualified staff are exceptional in their dedication to the well-being and support of all of our students. We have high expectations of each other and of our students resulting in high levels of learning and enrichment. Our staff and educators’ commitment and dedication to our students, families and to each other make Sylvan a place where everyone learns and thrives.
