Orchard School Site Council
What is the School Site Council and How Does it Benefit Our School?
The School Site Council (SSC) is a collaborative decision-making body composed of parents, school staff, and community members. This council is essential in shaping the vision and direction of our school by focusing on student success, supporting school improvement efforts, and ensuring the efficient use of resources.
What Does the SSC Do?
The SSC is responsible for
- Developing, reviewing, and updating the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), a strategic plan that identifies school goals and the strategies to achieve them.
- Overseeing the allocation of resources, including funding from state and federal programs, to ensure they directly support student learning.
- Reviewing school performance data and helping to identify areas of improvement.
- Serving as a platform for collaboration between parents, staff, and community members to ensure all voices are heard.
How Does the SSC Work?
The council meets monthly to review progress, discuss important issues, and make recommendations. Meetings are open to the public, and we encourage parents and community members to attend. Your participation helps ensure transparency and provides an opportunity for you to contribute to the decision-making process.
The School Site Council Process
Membership: The council is composed of elected representatives, including parents, teachers, staff, and sometimes students (depending on the grade levels served). Elections are held annually to fill vacant positions.
Meetings: Meetings are held monthly and include discussions on the SPSA, school programs, and budgets.
Agendas and Minutes: Agendas are posted prior to each meeting, and minutes are made available afterward to keep our community informed.
Stay Informed and Involved
We believe in transparency and the value of community engagement. You can find all Monthly Agendas and Meeting Minutes here, ensuring you stay updated on the council’s work and decisions.
Whether you choose to attend a meeting, run for a position, or simply stay informed, your involvement strengthens our school community and helps us provide the best educational experience for all students. Together, we can make a difference!
